My son is a very picky eater, but like most kids, he loves McDonalds. Since he eats so little, he gets fatty food until his appetite can stabilize sometime in the future. What a sweet deal this is because he gets to eat those french fries that he loves and prefers them more than anything else. Sometimes I go to the drive thru only for him. For the record, he does eat healthy foods, but the fast food actually balances his diet. What a lucky kid.
Anyway, so the other day I’m in the usual drive thru ordering the usual Happy Meal with McNuggets, but this time is different. When I fish out the fries, I get this:
What the hell? What is this? Have I grown to giant size without realizing it? I go back in the bag and I pull this out:
Apple slices? Are they serious? For a moment I thought I got the wrong order. However, I remember watching a news report about McDonalds trying to make their Happy Meals healthier for kids. I assume this BS started because of the lawsuit against McDonalds for making someone fat (duh!), and because of that movie, “Super Size Me.” Really.
What really grinds my gears is that people forget that this business is McDonalds, not Whole Foods. Why the hell are people looking for healthy food at McDonalds? You go to the Golden Arches for McNuggets or the Big Mac. Maybe a salad. Maybe.
What’s worse is that most people interviewed were happy for the change. These people have bigger problems if they are bringing their kids to McDonalds for healthy meals. Go home and freaking cook something. Stop being lazy. Even if both parents work, time can be set aside to prepare dinners.
I don’t eat at McDonalds often because it’s bad for me. However, I don’t expect McDonalds or any other fast food chain to change their menu because I think some choices are bad. If I shout louder than the majority, does that mean I can ruin it for everyone else? What kind of douchebag would that make me?
A big one.
