Quick Update

March 16, 2010

Saturday delivered a massive rain ans wind storm that was near Hurricane levels. For Staten Island, this was pretty unusual because we usually get regular NYC weather. Trees all over the island came down. A huge tree near where I live also came down.

Tree

Anyone who ever seen the tree knew it was coming down eventually, which is a shame because it damaged the nearby house. I knew trees were gonna come down earlier in the day cause I was getting drenched on my way home from school. Most of my books have water damage, but I really would’ve been pissed if my netbook got wet. I think it’s time to invest in a new bag.

Power outages was another major issue on the island. According to NY1.com, about 14,500 people lost power that night. Including me. Fortunately for me, it was only for a few hours. I heard that many others spent sunday without power. By the time I had “The Game of Life” set up with all of those damn pieces set in place on the game board, the power came back on. I’m surprised Milton Bradley doesn’t send technicians over to set it up (for a small fee of course).

The storm was big news here because of the damage it caused. Luckily only a few people were hurt. With all the pictures of smashed cars I’ve seen, it could’ve been worse. Thank God Domino’s Pizza was still delivering.
